A Yurt

A yurt is a modern adaptation of the ancient shelter used by Central Asian nomads for centuries. The compact shape of the yurt and combination of lightweight members in tension and compression mean that the structure is highly efficient in maximizing strength while minimizing the use of materials.

The yurt is a lightweight, low-cost, state-of-the-art version that retains the sense of wholeness of the ancient form while delivering the structural integrity, longevity and low maintenance demanded by modern users.

Though generally classified as a tent, the yurt is much stronger and weathertight. The yurt is a circular structure that consists of a durable fabric cover, tension band and a wood frame that includes a lattice wall, radial rafters, central compression ring and a framed door.

  2. Thank god for that, the yurt mystery is solved (dont't worry Moi, I thought it was a type of dessert ; )

I am trying my best to drag out the last few hours in our thai villa. We have had the best time very relaxed and very luxurious. Private infinity pool, spa everyday and our very own butler - not sure I can remember what my legs are for as he drives us everywhere in a golf cart. T is at the spa having another 80 minute massage. Best of all the ole scottish Bank paid for it!!!

Talking of Banks I start my new job with Lloyds on 1 October and it has mysteriously doubled in size while I have been away by taking over HBOS...so lots to get my teeth into and so far so sane.

Have been reading Tales of the City for the first time while here and think you should extend to do San Fran justice. See if you can be there over Halloween apparently its like Mardi Gras.

Anyway don't stay too long though, T and I are thinking of putting this ad on Help Xchange.

'House Boy required. Autumn allotment and garden clearing required. Some light house work and cat stroking needed. Great meals and big hugs provided in city and also country retreat'.

ps. have had thai cooking lessons love j x
